Where is the Azores? I asked the same question when i saw this 6 star destination for the girls women’s tour. The Azores is a little island off portugal, and its one of the most beautiful places iv ever been! With Amazing coast line that has natural pools in every cove, big green mountains and HOT SPRINGS!! its amazing! Me and bethany got to the Azores the day before the contest started and thankfully got our surfboards and suit case(half the girls did not get the stuff for 4 days after the comp started). But it wasn’t that big of deal for all the girls that didnt receive there boards because everyone just shared, i lent two of my boards out(: the surf was pretty much flat, it was probably one of the smallest contest iv ever surfed in. I lost in round of 24, witch i was pretty bummed about, just because it sucks when you cant even catch a wave i your heat because its was almost flat. But its all good now, we have been having so much fun! We haven been going on hikes to waterfalls, biking around the coast line and jumping in natural pools that where created a long time ago. its been so cool and i dont think i want to leave): we still have 4 more days left so im excited to see what els this island with bring us.
Right now i am in Huntington California for the US Open of surfing. This contest is one of the biggest contest we have all year, so im super excited. Its also one of the craziest, and its not all surfing, there’s concerts, BMX, Skating ,both set up all down the beach and a bunch of cool signing that all pros do. Thousand of people from all over come to watch the event go on so its just a mad house down on the beach, you can barley walk! I surfed today, the conditions where really hard but i ended up advancing to the round of 12(: i surf tomorrow first thing so wish me luck! You can watch all the action live at http://www.usopenofsurfing.com/
I just got home from Indonesia, it was so much fun! I went with the ripcurl girls Bethany, Stephanie and Tyler. The surf was fun pretty much the whole trip, and when the waves were not that good we would fish, dance around the boat, drive the jet ski, and cruz on the deserted beaches.
Right now i am packing for Indo. Im so excited to surf some good waves (kauai has been flat). Im going with the Ripcurl girls, so its defiantly going to be a fun trip. I probably wont have internet but i will post all of the pics when i get home!
Here are some pictures from my last two trips i did, I went to Indonesia and Mexico. It was so much fun!
Whether you like it or not, 19-year-old Alana Blanchard, with her waterdrop frame, seductive eyes, and seamless carve is the new face of women’s surfing. Young, beautiful, and talented, when a photo of Alana appears in a glossy monthly, whether she be clad in bikini or draped in neoprene, you know it’s going to be a page-stopper. At a time when the women’s tour is undoubtedly on shakey footing, having someone like Alana at the helm that not only surfs supreme but has garnered international media coverage (Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair) only helps ensure the sport’s survival. Recently, we caught up with Alana to get her impression on her first year on the CT and how she handles all of the … err … attention.
